City of Joburg and Signa Academy career expo proves successful in Ferndale

Employment at the City of Johannesburg is highlighted at Signa Academy career expo.

The youth, and especially those who are disabled, had a chance to find out about job opportunities within the City of Johannesburg at a large-scale career expo.

The event saw about 200 students from Signa Academy campuses across the country descend on the one in Ferndale on April 20. Representatives from various departments handed out brochures addressed the crowd via microphone and engaged with the youth at exhibition tables during the course of the day.

“I look forward to working with you, my future fellow officers,” Tebogo Morake of the Metro Police addressed the crowd. “I am at career expos like this often and my aim is to employ a whole lot of you.”

She explained the core functions of the Metro Police, especially relating to crime prevention, bylaw management and traffic management. She herself focuses on youth development and absorption (employment into the workforce).
