Get to know this artist from Cosmo City:

I’m Sfisokuhle Mkhwanazi, also known as Scima, and I’m a rapper, producer and also an actor.

I started to love music at the age of 12. My two brothers’ home studio in our backyard, where they used to play music a lot, sparked my interest in music.

Growing up without knowing my father made me feel unloved. So I used music as a way to encourage and motivate myself. As I grew madly in love with the sound, it became a part of my everyday life and I later decided to pursue music.

I released my debut song in 2019, titled Break Through, which talks about the experiences I endured growing up and a future prediction that I one day I’d be recognised by major artists.

The song received a warm reception from the public and was performing extremely well, resulting in me sharing a stage with Fifi Copper at Cassper Nyovest’s August Royalty Tour (ART) in 2019, at Platinum Lounge in Cosmo City. That was definitely a dream come true.

In 2017, I established an organization called After Skool Is Lit, which focuses on providing sanitary towels to disadvantaged youngsters and hosting netball tournaments to bring together local learners in the neighbourhood.

I was working on an amapiano track called Wena Uphezulu, which I released on April 28. The message of the song is to motivate people that you can achieve anything that you dream of, as long as you are working hard.

I appeared on Rhythm City as an extra, and my song, Egoli, was played on KZNTV. Another song I was featured on by Razo, titled Abangani, was also aired on Channel O.

Being a guest entertainer on Seven Colours (Honey TV) and singing for legendary actress Lilian Dube was the highlight of my career because I grew up watching her on television and meeting her was incredible.

In the future, I would like to work with Nasty C and Sjava because they have proven that you can come from a rural area or township and be anything you desire.

I want to expand my organization so that I can provide more sanitary towels to those in need and host more tournaments on a regular basis.
