Local NGO encourages volunteering on Earth Day

Guy Hazon said all the projects they do for the community are from volunteering and everyone at the centre is a volunteer that tries to make the world a better place.

New Acropolis Culture Centre in Blairgowrie held its first Earth Day celebration event and the link between volunteering and environmental sustainability on April 22.

Various NGOs, such as Wellness Hub, Exotically Dive Pulse, Seeding Revolution, People Against Poverty and Unemployment (Papu) and Sassy Source attended the event – they had stalls to display their products and encouraged the guests to volunteer to give back to Earth.

Director of the New Acropolis Guy Hazon said that it is important to appreciate the planet we live on.

“Philosophers throughout our times always appreciated nature and Earth. It’s our home as humanity; it gives us a good atmosphere, good food, and all the diversity that allows us to live the way we live. This day is about giving back to Earth.”

Forrest Ramoshowana of Exotically Devine said that Earth Day means a lot to them.
“Earth Day is an expression of us appreciating what comes from Earth.”

The NGO promotes a healthy lifestyle through vegetarian African food, waste art and urban farming.

“Our intention as an organisation is to trace our existence and connecting with ourselves more deeply; finding natural methods of managing life and promoting wellness.”
Guest were treated to a tour in the centre. They planted different plants at the centre’s garden to give back and enjoyed healthy food cooked by Exotically Devine.
