Locals are encouraged to avoid temporary road closures caused by the upcoming JP Morgan Corporate Challenge Race

Here is important information ahead of the J. P. Morgan Corporate Challenge Race.

The Johannesburg J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge Race is set to take place at The Wanderers Club on March 30.

The race is in its 18th year and will be taking place at 06:00.

The J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge Johannesburg race capacity of 14 000 participants was reached. All that remains for corporate teams who have entered, is to brush up on their final preparations and hope they get to line up next to one of the Laureus ambassadors.

Road closures

The temporary road restrictions are put in place to prevent participants parking and obscuring the running route and inconveniencing residents, and to prevent the participants from driving through Melrose, Birdhaven, Melrose North, Melrose Estate and Melrose Arch to The Wanderers Club.

Temporary road restrictions will also safeguard the runners during the race between 18:30 and 20:00, and residents will have restricted access to their residences, while runners are on the route or if emergency vehicles require priority road use.

Helpful tips to avoid personal delays on the day:

  • Avoid the area and choose an alternative route if you can.
  • Alternatively, plan ahead by using Google Maps, Waze, or any other traffic directional and management system to plan your travel route if you are passing through the affected areas on the day.
  • Build in additional time of up to one hour if you need to use the roads that the race route passes through.
  • Visit the race website to view the temporary road restrictions map for the event day.

For any other queries, residents and commuters using the race route can contact the race hotline on 072 865 8750. This number will be operational from 09:00–16:00 on March 20–24, and 09:00–16:00 on March 27–31.

On race day, March 30, the hotline will be operational from 09:00–22:00. Queries or complaints can be directed to JPMCC, Johannesburg PR on johannesburg.pr@corpchallenge.jpmorgan.com
