Elderly motorist airlifted following truck crash
The eighty-year-old woman sustained serious injuries after colliding with a truck.
Emer-G-Med responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on Apollo Road, Sundowner at around 13:30 on January 19.
On arrival at the scene, a truck was found to have collided in a T-bone fashion with a light motor vehicle.
“The driver of the car, an eighty-year-old woman sustained serious injuries and advanced life support intervention was needed to stabilize her before a decision was made to airlift her with the assistance of the Netcare911 aeromedical helicopter, to a specialist facility for the definitive care that she required,” explained Emer-G-Med national spokesperson Kyle van Reenen.
All relevant authorities were on the scene. An update on the condition of the patient had not been received at the time of publishing the story.
