Randpark Ridge Residents Association outlines plans for the year

RRVA looks at projects such as installing CCTV cameras, maintaining green spaces and completing its app.

Randpark Ridge Village Association chairperson, Quinton Robbertze writes:

Another year has come and gone, and now that we have reflected on our successes and failures of the past 12 months, we are able to plan our year ahead.

We have identified a couple of key projects that we want to complete this year. None of these would be possible without our contributing members.
Here are some of our aspirations for 2023:

  • The security and care committee will be focusing on completing the CCTV installation at the Molope and Randpark drive entrances from Ysterhout Drive. Once this has been completed all our entrances will be covered with ANPR cameras. After this we can focus on also adding cameras at key hotspots, such as the top of Randpark Drive near Beyers Naudé, and mugger’s alley (entrance from Rabie to Essenhout park). We will also investigate replacing some of the fences in and around our area.
  • The Environment Committee will continue to maintain our park and improve the koppie behind the Vodacom tower in Hymany Park, and also look at replacing the last old bridge in the park, bringing our new bridges to four. We will also install posts (once approved) across the park at the Vodacom tower, to prevent vehicles from travelling down the park, as well as installing more tree tags and benches throughout the park. We have recently also started to clear the median strip on Ysterhout, which has become overgrown with weeds after all the rains that we have been blessed with. This project will continue into 2023. We will also continue to fill the scour cavities with dump rock downstream of the pipe culverts on Seder and Medlar to prevent further deterioration of these vital structures.
  • The Marketing Committee will be focusing on getting our app completed. We will focus on getting more partners on board that will enhance our product offering to our residents. We will also focus on completing our rebranding process by installing a new light box above the office, as well as renovating our office, which is long overdue.
  • Our Administration Committee will be launching a new printing service to our residents, which will bring another revenue stream to our non-profit.

These are just some of the new projects that we will tackle over the next 12 months. We will still continue to maintain our area, and like we do every year we will attend to all the complaints received from concerned residents.

The only way that we can prosper, is if we stand together, take hands and be the change that we want to see. We would like to invite each and every one of you to join us as a member, and volunteer your time if you can and help us to successfully deploy these projects. Thank you very much to everyone who has contributed to our success in 2022.

As the sun of the old year sets down for the first sunrise of 2023, we would like to wish you and your family a blissful, joyful, colourful, beautiful and terrific new year.
