Vandia Gardens hosts fun Summer Bash

The Vandia Gardens Residents Association held its first big community event since lockdown.

Firefighter and dog behaviour demonstrations, a jumping castle and slip and slide, all brought action to balance out a relaxed market-feel at the annual Vandia Gardens Residents Association Summer Bash.

An estimated 350 community members paid a visit to O’Summit International School during the day, October 29, to enjoy food and drinks and mingle.

Beagle Watch hosted a security talk and residents who brought their pets could have them microchipped.

For the youngsters, the Fire Ops SA fire engine was a a huge attraction and several youngsters had the opportunity to sit in the driving seat and watch the firefighters use their jaws of life and various heavy equipment.

“The day went great and even though there was a weather warning it did not stop 350 people from coming through,” association chairperson, Richard Kushlick said.

“This was our first event since lockdown and our first at the school. The food was great, the dog obedience show was amazing and the kids loved the face painting. We have learnt a lot and next year will be even better.”

Fire Ops SA conducted the firefighting demonstration, while Tame the Beast Canine Training and Behaviour held the dog behaviour show.

The association caters for residents in Vandia Grove, Beverley Gardens, Bryanston Ext 5 and O’Summit.
