Randburg DJ shares his dream

DJ Innocent shares his career aspirations with us.

DJ Boitumelo Innocent Mokgapi known as DJ Innocent writes:

I am a DJ and a music production student at Volume Music Academy in Randburg.

I love music. Since I was young I used to listen to and also collected music compilations. I used to listen to the likes of DJ Ganyani, DJ Fresh and Oskido because their compilations inspired me a lot. Already at school I started deejaying using DVDs and play music and I sometimes acted like I’m deejaying – that is where the love and inspiration came from.

At the beginning of this year, I enrolled at Volume Music Academy for a three-month deejaying course. I learned a lot when it comes to beat matching – sound engineering and connecting the sound systems; the basics of how to reach the crowd and match the beat through my performances. It was important for me because I want to perfect my craft.

I want to take my deejaying career far and develop myself as DJ. I want to be in business through music. Since I am doing music productions, I will be able to make my own music and at gigs I’ll be able to promote my own songs.

I am now doing events and I get bookings. Also, I am a resident DJ for Namela Fund Rides Braai Picnics where we do picnics all around Joburg.
