Alchemy Dojang’s 18 participants win 35 medals in the National Korean Martial Arts Championships

The18 person team gathered 35 medals at the All Styles National Korean Martial Arts Championship.

Alchemy Dojang based in Cresta excelled and won a staggering 35 medals comprising 10 Gold, 18 silver and 7 bronze at the Korean All Styles Martial Arts National Championships held at Wits Multi Sports stadium.

The Korean All Styles Martial Arts National Championships attracted competitors from all over South Africa. Teams converged in Gauteng from Cape Town, KZN, Mpumalanga, Free State, Limpopo and Northwest.

Katherine Hollingworth took silver in Black Belt Ladies weapons forms.

Alchemy Coach Master Gregory Hart said, “This is the first time the National Korean All Styles has been held since 2019 so it is very encouraging to see how well the local martial artists have done and that the standard has been maintained. Particularly heart-warming was the throngs of spectators who filled the stadium.”

All ages and belt levels were represented from the 5-year-old white belts up to 65 years old Black belts and included a highly anticipated 4th-7th Dan Masters Category. Students got an opportunity to learn in an all-Master Championship Challenge as Masters compete with each other.

Altogether 258 exponents of the popular martial arts of Tang Soo Do and Taekwondo from 9 different Korean Martial Arts organisations participated in the disciplines of forms, weapons forms, point sparring, continuous sparring and kick low fighting.
