Local youngster hopes to become one of the world’s most successful entrepreneurs and create jobs

Education Incorporated Boutique School learner makes extra cash with his snow cones.

Aspiring entrepreneur and Grade 7 learner Iesa Saleji (13) writes:

I started my business called Frostbite Snow Cones in August this year because I love snow cones and I wanted to make extra cash for myself.

One day I went to the Pretoria Zoo where there were selling snow cones and I tried one for the first time. With that first bite, I fell in love with snow cones.

I decided to use my savings and started my business. I sell snow cones every Saturday outside Hamzah Halaal butchery in Emmarentia.

I got inspiration from my parents and my business studies teacher Beven Tshuma who made me believe that it was possible for me to start a real business with proper planning and determination.

During our Grade 7 school market day, recently held at the school, I managed to make the most sales, and people loved my snow cones.

I made a total income of R1 720 in just three hours before I ran out of ingredients to make more snow cones.

I did not anticipate that my business would be so popular, but it was a lesson in the process, and I am very proud of my achievement because I really worked hard in preparing for this day.

I would like to encourage other young people to consider entrepreneurship in order to make extra money and not to rely on their parents with everything.

I strongly believe that entrepreneurship is one of the most effective ways to curb the scourge of high unemployment in the country.
