Northgate’s Team In-Sync skaters visit dog rescue centre in North Riding

Northgate skaters show their grace off the ice when they do something for charity.

Ice skaters are not only graceful when they are performing.

They are just as lovely in real life, as proved when an ice-skating group from Northgate Ice Rink visited a charity recently.

Novice synchronised skating group, Team In-Sync dropped in at Wings of Inspiration’s Dog Rescue Centre open day.

Team In-Sync are (back) Megan Fourie, Kelly Player, Zoe Bywater, Caitlin Player and Jessica Levien and (front) Kirsty Goodall, Layla Kamal, India Maclare and Mia Welgemoed.

Wings of Inspiration is primarily for people but has recently opened a dog rescue centre. Their care centre is in Helderkruin but hosted the open day on Quorn Drive, North Riding.

There, the skaters had a blast with their furry friends.

Zoe Bywater and Mia Welgemoed use a ball to play with one of the dogs at the centre.

“Our team has done a lot of fundraising this year because we have qualified to skate overseas and so it is wonderful to be able to give our time to a worthy cause,” said ice skater Caitlin Player.

“The dogs at Wings of Inspiration Dog Rescue Centre are so loving and kind and we absolutely loved spending time with them.”

India Maclare and Megan Fourie enjoy the day out.

Fellow skater Jessica Levien agreed the team had a great time.

“I am an animal lover so of course, I loved all the dogs, and I think it was a great team bonding experience to help out and play with the pups,” she said.

“Everyone was helpful and very kind and overall it was an amazing experience. It really meant so much to me that we could help others in our community.”

Jessica Levien and Caitlin Player pet one of the dogs.

Zoe Bywater said she was glad to play with the dogs while India Maclare said she learnt new things about animals that she had not known before

“It was great being able to play with the dogs and if I ever got invited again, I would most definitely go,” Maclare added.

Kirsty Goodall visits the dog rescue centre.

Kelly Player said she felt grateful to give her time to the cause and do so with her teammates.
