Come play Rummikub in Blairgowrie

The tile game is a fun one, and community members bet 20c coins to raise the stakes a little.

A group of Rummikub is glad to be back at Blairgowrie Recreation Centre, and has encouraged community members to join them.

The bunch of friendly community members had to play at each other’s homes while the centre was closed for maintenance for 15 months, but is back at the venue every Wednesday morning.

“We play for fun and sometimes we bet 20c coins,” explained Maria Black, who leads the group.

“Each week someone brings eats to share and we all have a good time. At the end of the year we have a Christmas lunch together.”

Rummikub is played with tiles on a table and requires both luck and strategy.

Players must try to play every tile on their rack, and they place them in groups of colour and number.

Black said people are welcome to contact her to find out more about joining.
