Illegal structures are removed in Bloubosrand by police officials

The JMPD along with a security company knock down and remove unwarranted structures in Bloubosrand.

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) along with VPS security led an operation against illegal land invasion on September 1 in Bloubosrand.

The ownership of these illegal structures had continued to fester in many parts of South Africa.

According to a media statement, the City of Johannesburg said they had launched an Operation Buya Mthetho which focused on restoring the rule of law in Johannesburg and ensuring a safer community for its residents.

Operation Buya Mthetho continues to regulate weekly operations in parts of the City’s regions. This is done to reduce illegal waste management, illegal advertising, illegal street trading, illegal water and power connections, conduct compliance operations at liquor outlets and run road safety operations.

“Illegal land invasion remains a serious scourge in the City of Johannesburg where we see people illegally occupying pieces of land without approval from the legal owners of the land,” said Xolani Fihla, spokesperson of JMPD.
