Metro police recovered a pistol after approaching a suspicious man in the Honeydew policing area recently.
The spokesperson Xolani Fihla said Region C operations officers were on patrol in the Honeydew police precinct when they came across a man walking.
The officers thought he looked suspicious and stopped next to him in their vehicle.
The man immediately ran away, dropping the firearm while fleeing.
“The firearm was booked at Honeydew Police Station,” Fihla said.
“No criminal case was opened.”
Metro police posted a photo of the gun on their Twitter page.

Honeydew police spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan said several firearms have been recovered by the station’s personnel in recent weeks.
He thanked the Metro police for assisting in crime prevention.
