Honeydew Police Station spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan explained that the copper was recovered during a random stop-and-search.

Members of SAPS Honeydew’s infrastructure team, who are always hard at work preventing cable theft and destruction of our infrastructure, have arrested a suspect and impounded copper cables, copper wire, copper pipes… to an undisclosed amount,” he said.

“All of the items were booked in at the station and the man will appear in Roodepoort Magistrates Court soon.”

Muthan urged community members who are aware of criminal activities to report them to the police.
