ALERT:Morning traffic disruptions in Malanshof for Mintek 5km and 10km Fun Walk

Expected road closure for Malanshof commuters as a result of Mintek 5km and 10km Fun Walk

The South African national mineral research organisation Mintek, will hold a Spring Day Event on September 2 between 09:00 and 11:00 as part of their company’s employee wellness initiatives.

Mintek employees will take part in a 5km and 10km walk through Malanshof streets in Randburg. Motorists can expect possible traffic disruptions during these hours as a result of this walk.

The walk will start off in Rowland Johnson Street and move through Silverpine Avenue and Republic Road to Damelin Campus and Mintek. Several traffic lanes around Malanshof will be partially closed between 09:00 and 11:00 and may cause minor traffic disruptions.

The walk will affect the following roads/streets:

  • Partial closure of Rowland Johnson Street and Hans Schoeman Street
  • Lane closure in Hans Schoeman and David Malan Street
  • Temporary road closure in Jan K. Marais and Silver Pine Avenue
  • Temporary road closure in River Road and Gertrude Street
  • Partial road closure in Gertrude Street and Republic Street
  • Partial road closure in Republic Road and Silver Pine Avenue
  • Road closure in Republic Road and Damelin Campus
  • Temporary Road closure in Malibongwe Drive and Randburg Sports Club Street
  • Partial road closure in Randburg Sports Club Street to Rowland Johnson Street, along Hans Schoeman Street

Mintek communication office Elvis Tshweneyame said JMPD would control traffic during the walk and based on the progression of the walk, some lanes or roads would reopen sooner than others.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause,” said Tshweneyame.
