Manyapye family gets a new home
A family of nine in Honeydew finally receive a new home.
France Manyapye (72) and his family in Honeydew are given their RDP home, entirely furnished with brand new items.
The RDP house that was intended to have been constructed and finished years earlier in 2010 was eventually presented to the property owner on Mandela Day.
The Human Settlements Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi was also present to help coordinate and deliver the house to the owner.
The family of nine have been living in a small shack next to their unfinished RDP for years.
“Living with an elderly person who requires care in a small space full of people can be challenging at times because you may be constrained in what you can do with your time and space. And having to endure the cold has been difficult for us,” said one of the daughters, Winnie Manyapye.
“It’s more difficult to cope on social grants to support a family of nine when no one is working.”
She thanked Ward 114 councillor David Mangena for looking out for his people in need in the community. “I must say we are very blessed to have been given this house on Mandela Day as it is also for an old person which we recognise as a blessing to us.”
Mangena added, “I feel happy and grateful that I was able to make the Manyapye family happy, especially when your job as a councillor is to make your residents happy.”
He expressed his profound gratitude to all the parties involved for donating food items and building supplies, which allowed the family to live in a warm home.
