Linden CPF exco elections postponed

Though the elections were initially meant to take place on July 26, they have been moved to September 6.

The Linden CPF has postponed the CPF exco elections that were due to take place on July 26.

This, according to interim CPF chairperson Annelize Tichauer, is to allow for the Linden CPF elections to align with the recently signed Gauteng Province Community Police Board (GPCB) Constitution.

The last Linden CPF exco elections took place in 2017 and based on the Gauteng CPF constitution, fresh elections have to be held every five years. Nomination forms are available on the Linden CPF website as well as at the Linden Police Station. These nomination forms need to be submitted before or on August 24 with elections to follow on September 6.

Tichauer explained that a series of public engagements will take place in each sector to introduce the existing CPF Sector Sub Forum Exco members to the community and to allow residents, street groups, complexes, road closures and resident associations that have not been involved or lost contact with the CPF to become involved.

“You also get to find out more about what crime looks like in your area and meet Linden Police Station’s sector managers who are responsible for each of the sectors and meet the station commander,” she said.
She added being involved in one’s community can be as simple as knowing where to get connected to receive the right information. “But for those community members who want to do more for their community but are not keen on meetings, committees and projects, there is also the CIB patroller programme.”
