Suspects using dating app used for sadistic purposes have been detained

Linden police share an update on the arrest of the suspect’s caught catfishing users of a dating app.

Following the news of a well-known dating app called Grinder, which saw criminals defrauding users of the app, the Linden police shared that suspects had been caught and detained.

According to a statement from Linden Police Station’s communication officer Sergeant Takalani Sibiya, two suspects were arrested for common robbery and rape. “The two suspects were terrorising the community of Windsor through this dating app. They were inviting males to a particular flat in Windsor with the intention of meeting their ‘blind date’, only to find that they would be robbed and raped.”

She added that several cases had been opened at the Linden SAPS and detectives had worked tirelessly to apprehend the suspects. “The two suspects are now behind bars and will appear in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court soon.”
