Councillors committed to improving intersection

Ward councillors Lynda Shackleford and David Potter continue to monitor the corner of William Nicol and Ballyclare drives as the problematic intersection causes frustration among motorists.

Bryanston ward councillors Lynda Shackleford (Ward 103) and David Potter (Ward 102) have remained committed to improving the state of the intersection at the corner of William Nicol and Ballylare drives.

According to Potter, the pair has received countless communications from residents with regard to the intersection, with one traffic pole in particular which has fallen victim to almost a dozen vehicles this year alone.

“Within the last few months, the one signal pole has been damaged by motor vehicles numerous times, costing the City of Johannesburg greatly and increasing the frustration of motorists as the signals often go into flashing red mode while the repair is undertaken.”

Shackleford added that because this is a shared intersection by both ward councillors, they have submitted a request to the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) to consider relocating this problematic pole.

“The JRA have confirmed that the traffic signals cannot be reconfigured without making a major change to the intersection which will be costly and take time.”

Both councillors ask motorists to remain patient as they continue to monitor the intersection and trust that the City is working to improve traffic management.
