Motorist urged to come forward after Scout hall’s fence is damaged

The hall is maintained by non-profit groups that do not have the money needed to repair the fence themselves.

The 1st Randburg Scout Hall is appealing to the motorist who damaged their fence to contact them and assist in repairs.

The group’s Sharon Venn told Randburg Sun that this is the third time in recent years that vehicles have damaged property fencing as a result of apparent accidents.

“The owners of the vehicles have not made any attempt to repair the damage they have caused,” she said of the Ferndale venue.

“The 1st Randburg Scout Hall is utilised by children in the community who are part of Scouts South Africa as well as a church and Lions Club. The concern beyond the property damage caused, is the danger posed to those using the community hall by reckless drivers on Eton Avenue.”

The Scouts maintain the hall on behalf of the City of Johannesburg and, as a non-profit organisation, do not have the funds required to repair the damage caused by the motorists’ actions.

If anyone has information that will assist in contacting the driver, this would also be of assistance.
