The youth are the future: teach them well
A programme set to positively influence the youth was held in Windsor East.
Under the command of Colonel Shaid Abdool, the Linden SAPS and the Windsor Cleaning Community Association (WCCA), put together a programme which aimed to empower, upskill and positively influence the youth at an event held in Windsor East.
The WCCA is a programme that was introduced to the youth of Windsor by founding director and local resident Patrick Kule. He began this programme four years ago and proactively continues to grow and help the youth fight drugs and alcohol.
“I initiate youth programmes within Windsor three times a week. The purpose of this programme is to ensure that the children of Windsor are positively influenced, but most importantly, kept off of the streets while participating in something positive.”
He explained that if the youth weren’t doing something worthwhile then they would roam around the streets, exposing themselves to negative things. “I have the best interest at heart for the community.”
At the Youth Day event, one of the stakeholders, Kedinameste Collections, provided sanitary towels for the youth. In a special address, Linden Police Station’s Sergeant Takalani Sibiya discussed matters pertaining to drugs, alcohol, human trafficking, sexual assault and the dangers surrounding the use of social media.
