Local dojang bring medals home
Northcliff-based Sim Wha Taekwon-Do Club does a stellar performance at a recent competition.

Local dojang, Sim Wha Taekwon-Do Club recently took part in the Revival Open Taekwon-Do Tournament 2022 and there they achieved 24 medals.
The event, which was hosted at Alberton Wrestling Club, saw various Taekwon-Do clubs from across the country participate, including competitors from Mozambique.

According to the founder of the dojang, Justin Glanville, what made this competition significant this year was that this was the first Taekwon-Do tournament they have had in two years, with the last being before the pandemic and its subsequent restrictions.

Of the 24 medals the dojang achieved, nine were gold medals. To prepare for this competition, Glanville said there was a lot of focused training within regular classes as well as practising for specific events of patterns and sparring for the tournament.
