Trial date set for man who allegedly set girlfriend on fire

The three-day trial will be held in the middle of July.

The case of a man facing seven counts of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, including allegedly setting his then-girlfriend on fire, will go to trial in July.

The man, whose name is known to Randburg Sun but will not be published until he has pleaded, has been charged regarding incidents in Kelvin, Sandton from 2016 to 2018.

These included alleged physical abuse as well as allegedly dousing his girlfriend in ethanol and setting her on fire.

He appeared in Randburg Magistrate’s Court on April 29, where he was told the three-day trial would start on July 13.
