Hoërskool Linden’s cricket goals
LINDEN – Team to be running at full steam when their end of year fixtures come around.
Cricket team off to a great start for their 2022 campaign.
With three strong wins out of six games played under their belt, Hoërskool Linden is showing that this will be a year of competitive and nail-biting cricket. This is according to the school’s sporting manager Rúan Basson, who has been working with the 1st team and helping them achieve their goals.
These include an overall winning percentage and exposing the players to different high-pressure situations by competing against high-quality opponents. With a bunch of high profile games on the calendar toward the end of the year, the team will be using the first half of the year to improve and prepare effectively as individuals and a team.
Basson said, “The potential of this team is what makes them special, when they’re switched on they’re very unlikely to be beaten. There is also a very strong sense of camaraderie within the team, they support each other fully.”
One player standing out so far and setting a great example is 1st team captain Ruben Aucamp. Basson expressed, “Ek het Ruben die eerste keer as o/10-speler by Laerskool Fairland sien speel en hy het uit die staanspoor baie natuurlike talent getoon. Dit is verblydend om te sien hoe hy in ‘n sterk jong man, leier en krieketspeler ontwikkel het. Hoërskool Linden is trots op hom. (I saw Ruben play for the first time as an U10 player at Laerskool Fairland and he showed a lot of natural talent from the start. It is gratifying to see how he has turned into a strong young man, leader and cricketer. Hoërskool Linden is proud of him.) ”
Basson is looking forward to seeing what else the team will achieve this year and feels that as long as they work hard and are committed they can win it all. “It’s an absolute privilege to have the opportunity to showcase your talents and play cricket at a competitive level. Show up, work hard and make yourselves and Linden proud! We’re behind all of you, every step of the way.”
