Bail judgement to be passed on man accused of setting girlfriend on fire

KENSINGTON B - The man faces 7 counts of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

A man will appear again in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on March 17 after allegedly setting his girlfriend on fire.

He will appear in court for judgment on the cancellation of his bail, explained National Prosecuting Authority regional spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwana.

“The complainant testified in respect of this application,” she said.

The man, whose name is known to Randburg Sun but will not be published until he has pleaded, is facing seven counts of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm for incidents in Kelvin, Sandton from 2016 to 2018.

These included alleged physical abuse as well as dousing his girlfriend in ethanol and setting her on fire.
