New ‘sheriff’ in Linden

LINDEN – The focus will be building better and stronger relationships between the police and the community.

Taking Linden Police Station to a higher level through hard work and discipline is the goal of its new Station Commander Colonel Shaid Abdool.

The colonel was recently announced as the new head of the station and will bring years of experience to the Linden policing precinct. Abdool said, “My goal is to ensure the station achieves much more success. I want to see the station rise higher while the station makes its mark in the community where trust is built and earned.”

He started his journey with the police more than 30 years ago in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal for training, then moved up to Gauteng once he was qualified. He has been stationed in Lenasia and Soweto and during that time worked with the provincial police and in the Orlando police cluster. He has also worked with the visible policing unit and was head of support and district coordinator.
Prior to joining Linden, he was the station commander of Eldorado Park Police Station. The passion to serve the community and seeing change has kept him going all these years.

“We are all here to make a difference and serve the community. We must use every opportunity we get to reduce crime, promote the image of the police, motivate our colleagues and members.”

Abdool said he looked forward to building stronger and more fruitful relationships with the residents, businesses and role players of the Linden policing precinct.
“I want the community to know that all of us at the station are committed to bringing a professional and reliable service to the community. We want to ensure the concerns of the community are dealt with effectively and that crime is dealt with very effectively.”
