Red Cross Society on site to assist Cosmo City voters

COSMO CITY – They are on standby to assist and attend to any medical emergencies voters might experience while waiting in line to vote.

The South African Red Cross Society has been positioned at voting stations across Johannesburg including ward 100’s Cosmo City Multipurpose Centre.

They are on standby to assist and attend to any medical emergencies voters might experience while waiting in line to vote. Shylet Tshuma of the society stated that they are ready to help those of an elderly age, disability or with children to ensure that they all have a smooth voting experience.

Tshuma explained, “We are here today to provide first aid to anyone that might faint or have a medical problem while voting. We would also be able to contact an ambulance and get it here to help the person if they still need further assistance.”

Fortunately there has not been any medical issues thus far, but Tshuma is advising those coming to vote to be conscious of today’s weather conditions. She stated, “If possible voters should come with an umbrella and water to stay cool while they wait to vote as it is a hot day. We have already provided some voters with our umbrellas while they wait in line.”

Additionally voters have been asked to remain patient as they wait to cast their ballot on this hot day.
