Feeding scheme that prioritises the learners of Windsor

ROBIN HILLS – Donations to the schools feeding scheme are still welcome.

Robin Hills Primary school has tried to ensure that their learners receive at least one meal a day over the past two decades and hope to continue doing this.

The school recently received a donation of 300kg of maize meal breakfast packs from Child Protection Hotline and Top Score Maize Meal which would go a long way in keeping their learners fed. According to the school’s acting principal Royston Sanders, the school’s feeding scheme feeds about 150 learners daily and therefore they rely on fundraising initiatives and donations to keep it going.

Sanders said the support they have received over the years was the reason they have been able to keep the programme running for as long as it has. Having partnered with private individuals, St Vincent de Paul Society Victory Park, Grace Bible Church, Linden police and the Gauteng Department of Education, they have been able to keep feeding their learners who are predominately from the Windsor areas.

He shared how grateful the school was for these relationships and all the donations they have received and continue to receive. “This goes a long way to feeding our less fortunate learners, as many of them come from the Windsor area, living in less than ideal conditions. Huge kudos must also go out to our feeding scheme handlers, Aunty Vicky and Tiny, who work tirelessly every day to ensure that these learners spend the day at school with full tummies.”
The school has welcomed the public to make donations to their food bank initiative.

Those interested can contact the school on 011 792 1710.
