Grade 8 plant trees for future learners

RANDPARK – Planted trees represent a new beginning of growth, strength and longevity.

Grade 8 learners participate in annual tree-planting ceremony.

The newbies of Rand Park High School recently planted trees at the school as part of the yearly tradition.

Representatives from each Grade 8 class helped plant trees which symbolised the start of the learners’ journey at the school. As the Grade 8s progress through high school, the tree will take root and its growth will represent their development. The learners were told that someday, other learners will sit under the shade of the tree because this year’s Grade 8s took the time to plant it.

The Acacia sieberiana woodil, commonly known as the paperbark Thom, were planted between the school’s tennis courts and field. The trees were also planted in connection with the school making a contribution to the planet as they produce oxygen, absorb carbon, stabilise the soil and combat climate change.
