Meet Nontyatyambo Moseki: The Randburg Sun’s hero of the month

ZANDSPRUIT – She is all about being of service to the world through kind deeds.

Thanks to numerous votes, Nontyatyambo Moseki has been chosen as Randburg Sun’s hero of the month.

The heroine shared how she has managed to positively impact her community, what her future plans are and why giving back to the community is so important for her.

Moseki is currently running two projects. One is a weekly children’s class that teaches them about universal spiritual values such as love, patience, obedience and justice, “The classes also assist children with their comprehension skills because they are given a lot of reading material,” she said.
Her second project, Mpho ya Zandspruit, is an income generator that assists mothers in the community. Through this project, the women are taught to make handmade products such as pot plant beaded baskets to be sold so they can support their families.

When thinking of the importance of the two projects, Moseki reflected on her favourite quote by Abdu’l-Bahá which speaks of children having the potential to be the light of the world through having a strong presence of God in their lives. “Teaching children to reflect on the topics above at an early age helps with having sensitive minds and spiritual hearts. Those qualities are crucial concepts and principles that will help renew our future generation, society and create a world in which justice can be a norm.”

The Wilgeheuwel resident has been volunteering within the Zandspruit community for about nine years. Growing up, Moseki’s friends always saw her as being someone who is reliable and solution-driven. “However, I discovered who I was the day I realised my ability to assist someone with greater pain than mine. It makes me so happy to be of service to others.”

One of her biggest successes to date is being an alumna of the Young African Leaders Initiative, a programme that was started by Barak Obama in 2010. She hopes her being of service to the world through good actions and deeds impacts the lives of many. Moseki believes each and every human being has the capacity to be great, and she hopes to live her life by making sure she helps those she crosses paths with to discover the hidden treasures within them so they will be able to be positive contributors in their homes and communities.

“The world of humanity is one, we need to go back to the culture of ubuntu in our houses and within our neighbourhood to be able to win over the social ills in our society,” she concluded.
