Randburg CPF concludes its meal programme for police officers

RANDBURG – Community Policing Forum helps raise money for and collect, 1 630 dinner meals for police officers.

Randburg Community Policing Forum (CPF) has concluded its meal distribution initiative for the police, providing
1 630 meals made possible thanks to R57 000 in donations.

Randburg, Sandton, Linden and Sophiatown police stations benefited from this programme during difficult times of unrest and the pandemic.

The shifts of many police officers were lengthened to 12 hours per day during the riots and the difficult situation officers faced also prompted the CPF to do this.

“At the moment, the campaign is not running but the fundraising process can run continuously through our partner Hot Cares,” said Randburg CPF public relations officer, Pommie Lutchman.

“We used them [Hot Cares] as the non-profit company to raise the funds. We are always [involved in] initiatives around gender-based violence. Kerry [Wetton, CPF chairperson] and I have set up the Randburg SAPS victim empowerment centre at the station last year with great support from the community.”

Lutchman thanked community members for their donations, and added that people could stay updated about the actions and news of the CPF by following it on Facebook

Community members also interested in joining the CPF can send an email to info@randburgcpf.org.za or media@randburgcpf.org.za to find out more.
