School fencing stolen

HONEYDEW – Police resolve theft case at Bush Hill school the very next day.

Newton House School has written a letter of thanks to Honeydew police for their prompt and efficient response in dealing with a crime incident at the school.

School rector Dr Herbie Staples wrote to the Station Commander, Brigadier Anesh Maharaj, about how he registered a theft case at the charge office on August 22.

“One of my own staff members had arrived at Newton House School property with three friends and a bakkie,” Staples explained in the letter.

“They had obtained unauthorised entrance by pretending to the security guard that I had given them permission to come and load some palisade fencing. The guard carelessly gave them entrance and they duly loaded up the property and departed.

“On Monday morning I was visited by Captain Makobi who took details from me. On his return, he delegated Detective Sergeant Ncha and Detective Constable Mabasa to investigate and to effect an arrest. By 09:00 this morning, the two detectives arrived, checked my details and made an arrest of the staff member.”

The stolen property had been recovered from an informal settlement in Roodepoort by midday.

Staples was asked to go and identify the property, after which the police delivered the palisade fencing to the school.

“The professional service of all three gentlemen, and the speed with which they solved the case, is amazing and I wish to place on record my appreciation to your team for excellent service.”

Honeydew police spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan congratulated the officers on resolving the matter quickly.
