Linden Victim Support pledge their services

The adjusted Level 4 Covid-19 lockdown went into effect on 28 June and one of the conditions of the lockdown is the suspension of Community Policing Forum (CPF) physical activities. However, the victim support unit of the Linden CPF won’t let that stop their efforts to provide counselling and assistance to victims of crime and have therefore decided to carry on their duties while being socially and physically distant from the community.
Linden Victim Support Unit co-ordinator Di Constable said, “We are a group of 14 volunteers who attend scenes of crime and offer a counselling service for all victims of crime. This service is operational 24/7 but, at present, due to Covid-19 regulations, we are unable to attend scenes but are contactable on 065 957 5996.”
The CPF is also pleading with the community to assist with sponsorship for uniforms for the unit. Constable said the unit is currently raising funds to purchase golf shirts and the cost of printing the CPF logo along with the CPF name. Current Covid-19 restrictions make it near impossible for the CPF to host fundraisers.
