Join a walk or blood donation drive alongside the Mighty Mack army

RANDBURG – Residents can also join the blood drive at Crossfit Cyprium at 83 Bram Fischer Drive, Ferndale at 9:30 on 12 June.

There are two opportunities to support the Mighty Mack Army on 12 June.

As efforts ramp up to raise funds for DKMS Africa, formerly known as The Sunflower Fund, locals are invited to join a walk of 5km, 10km, 15km or 21km at the Randburg Sports Complex located in Silverpine Avenue, Randburg.

Locals are encouraged to donate to DKMS Africa at the walk, which is scheduled to begin at 6.30am.

Residents can also join the blood drive at Crossfit Cyprium at 83 Bram Fischer Drive, Ferndale at 9.30am on 12 June.

The Crossfit Cyprium has also opened up their morning workouts at 6.30am, 7.30am and 8.30am to the public before they donate blood. Donors need to be between the ages of 16 and 75, weigh over 50kg, have safe blood and be in generally good health in order to donate.

Five-month-old Mackenzie Friedman was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia – a cancer affecting her bone marrow and blood – in May, sparking a social media campaign to encourage more people to register to become bone marrow donors.
