Four suspects arrested after Bordeaux robbery

BORDEAUX – Four suspects were arrested after a house robbery in Bordeaux on 1 May.

Randburg police have arrested four suspects after a house robbery in Bordeaux on 1 May.

Randburg police spokesperson Captain Makgowanyana Maja said during the late evening, a family was shocked to see the four suspects storm into their home.
“Victims were threatened with firearms and robbed of their belongings. Victims managed to alert private security officers who responded to their alarm while summoning the police,” said Maja.

He added that when the officers arrived, the suspects ran in different directions with the police hot on their heels.
“The suspects started shooting at the police and officers returned fire. Four suspects were arrested while two were injured during the shootout and taken to hospital under police guard,” said Maja.

Three unlicensed firearms and ammunition were recovered including other items taken from the house.
“The firearms will be taken for ballistics to determine if they were used in other violent crimes,” said Maja.
Acting Station Commander Colonel Solomon Mudau applauded the working relationship between the police and the security companies in Randburg and urged that it should be maintained and strengthened.

He further applauded the responding police members for their bravery, arrest and removing illegal firearms from the criminals.
The four suspects are expected to appear briefly in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court to face charges of house robbery, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, including possession of suspected stolen property.
