Pensioner thankful for community teddy bear donations

NORTH RIDING – Members of the Randburg community generously donated over 60 teddy bears to the charity efforts of Anna-Maria Lemmerer.

Thanks to an article published in Randburg Sun in October last year, members of the Randburg community generously donated more than 60 teddy bears to the charity efforts of Anna-Maria Lemmerer.

“I would like to thank each and every person who helped with my initiative. The teddy bears were well received at every orphanage and children’s home that I visited and it was amazing to see their hearts filled with such joy,” said Lemmerer.
Lemmerer started her initiative to donate teddy bears to children in orphanages and children’s homes more than two years ago during Christmas, and has continued to do so.

Besides the donated bears, Lemmerer donated dozens of other teddy bears that she had purchased from the Randburg SPCA charity store and other charity stores in the area.

Some children’s homes that received these donations were as far afield as the Botswana border.
Lemmerer said her charity work would continue and encouraged further community support in donations of more used teddy bears that would be cleaned and sanitised before delivery to the children.
She said she was still open to suggestions about where to donate more teddy bears.
