Blairgowrie Primary School grades R and 1 learners were bright-eyed and bushy tailed to start ‘big school’ on 15 February.
All Covid-19 regulations observed, the school welcomed all learners to the new school year.
“We have a 100 per cent return of all learners and we are thrilled to have them back,” beamed the principal of Blairgowrie Primary School Pat Oosthuizen.
“The learners were excited this morning. It’s clear that they missed structure, routine and social interaction.”
The school has thought of everything to prepare for a unique start to the year. Learners had their temperatures taken on entry and are sanitised by teachers every time they enter their classrooms.
The school has employed new staff and added extra classes to accommodate all learners.
Teachers Louis Fransman (who teaches Grade 6 Afrikaans) and Anais Wilmot (subject head of creative arts) were both motivated to start the new school year, as well as welcome the excited learners.
The school is eager to take on the academic year and is confident that they will remain ‘stronger together’.
