Ward 102 councillor looks back on 2020

RANDBURG – Ward 102 councillor David Potter reflected on the events of 2020 in his ward.

Ward 102 councillor David Potter wishes his residents a very merry Christmas in a message reflecting on 2020 and writes:

2020 has been a strange year, but with that being said it has allowed a new way to engage with our residents. It has also allowed a different focus and a realignment of priorities.

The lockdown has proven to be a real challenge and has shown that the City was not ready for anything like this.
Many City officials were unable to gain access to their email and systems during this time and depots ground to a near halt, with many still struggling.

Many people contribute positively to the ward daily. I’d like to give thanks to the ward committee, residents associations, City officials, the Metro police, the police and the many residents who all partake in the goings-on in the ward.

A special thanks to the frontline workers who have navigated uncertain times during 2020.

My hope for 2021 is that the City of Joburg gets a focus on delivering the basics in the ward.

Fix every reinstatement, get every street light working, paint all main arterial roads and keep that up, without a fuss and fanfare.

I’d also love to see a spade placed in the ground at the Conrad Drive Bridge in Blairgowrie, which would show commitment by the City to the long-outstanding bridge widening capital expenditure project.
