Principal of Spark Cresta reflects on the past year

CRESTA – Principal of SPARK Cresta unloads on her journey in education and hopes for her school in 2021.

Lindiwe Mushi, the principal of Spark Cresta writes:

My journey with Spark Schools started in 2017 where I was teaching Grade 2 literacy.
I have had the privilege to learn and be moulded by different line managers who each left a lasting mark on my career as an educator as well as a school leader.

In the year 2018, I had the opportunity to grow to assistant principal at Spark Centurion, which became my learning ground in becoming a stronger school leader. A year later, I moved to Spark Cresta still in the position as an assistant principal as I wanted more exposure at a different Spark school. At the end of 2019, I got promoted to principal at Spark Cresta.
Spark Schools have set a lasting foundation for my career and ushered me forth with growth opportunities I have always dreamt of.

The pandemic presented us with renewed, endless opportunities and has shown us how adaptable we are as humans. Bearing in mind that being an educator or a parent during this pandemic is no small feat, the parents’ and educators’ continued commitment to our scholars’ academic journey has been evident, prior and during this time of adversity.
I would like us to continue to shape our country’s future leaders and provide them with the opportunities and learning experiences they deserve. We have all worn several hats in the past months but would like to give special appreciation to our learners who continued to learn whether remotely or physically coming to school – these are my silent heroes in the midst of all this.

Many families were impacted financially by Covid-19 this year and I’m glad our network of schools will be giving them an opportunity to enroll their children for next year at the same fees as this year. As big advocates for education, we aim to limit additional costs to families who wish to provide their children with high-quality education at an affordable price.

Next year’s enrolments are still open in all our schools. Parents who wish to enroll their children can apply on https://www.sparkschools.co.za/apply-now/ or contact 010 125 0600

My hope for my school next year is to continue with this resilience and in the spirit of excellence make the 2021 academic year a success.
