Ward 115 councillor’s message of hope to his community

BLOUBOSRAND – Ward 115 councillor Matome Mafokwane would like to wish his community a happy and safe festive season.

Ward 115 councillor Matome Mafokwane would like to wish his community a happy and safe festive season after a year most would want to forget.

He writes:

The year that wasn’t, we all agree 2020 is the year none of us has anything to write home about. It’s one of those times to just thank yourself of still breathing, anyone of us can contract Covid-19 and anything can happen.

Our community has really come together, voicing their opinions about issues, and many have been shining examples of community initiative. I really appreciate the work done by all.

If I was to single out one of these shining examples, it would be Mark van der Merwe, one of the finest sons of the soil.

I call him that because on issues of community activism, be it municipal service delivery issues, environment issues, or offering support to SMMEs and community safety, you name it, Mark is there.

As we spend some much-needed relaxation time with our friends and families, please observe all social distancing rules. Wear a mask, wash your hands with soap for a minimum of 20 seconds, stay safe and don’t leave anything to chance.

All in all, we have very little to celebrate this year, and if anything, I encourage every person that can stay home and reduce your movements unless it is critically important.

I wish all residents of Ward 115 a blessed and safe festive season, and a happy and prosperous 2020.
