16 Days of Activism concludes in roadside awareness drive

HONEYDEW – The police's 16 Days of Activism concluded on 10 December.

Members of the Motor Industry Staff Association joined Honeydew police in their efforts to spread awareness about the prevalence of gender-based violence to conclude the police’s 16 Days of Activism on 10 December.

Motorists engaging on their daily commute on Hendrik Potgieter Drive onto 14th Avenue in Northcliff were greeted by the members and police waving signs to raise awareness about the issue, and this is the second year that MISA has joined the initiative.
The police’s 16 Days of Activism started on 25 November and is an annual campaign run internationally to help spread awareness about gender-based violence.

Pamphlets addressing these issues, festive season safety and the prevalence of Aids and how to prevent it were also handed out to passing motorists.

Honeydew police spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan said the police were happy to have the members of the association join them during the morning as they continued their awareness drive against gender-based violence and child abuse throughout the Honeydew policing area.
