Douglasdale SAPS spread awareness in Cosmo City

COSMO CITY – The Douglasdale SAPS recently hosted an awareness event with community stakeholders at Cosmo City Mall.

Douglasdale police together with Persec Security, community patrollers and the City of Joburg held a crime awareness campaign at Cosmo City Mall.

“The purpose was to address the robberies and crime happening around the area,” said spokesperson of the Douglasdale police Captain Mpho Tshetlhane.

Community members were advised to be alert especially as the festive season is around the corner. Business and shop owners were also given safety tips to help them be vigilant during a high-risk time of the year. With increased unemployment rates, a crime spike during the festive season could be expected.

“We will continue with these campaigns to make sure that our community are, and feel safe,” concluded Tshetlhane.

The police service has targeted all malls to ensure that their presence was felt and the community feels comforted with their persistent involvement in their areas. Community members had an opportunity to approach and speak to police directly and pamphlets were handed out which covered safety tips, Covid-19 and substance abuse.
