Northriding College is ahead of the game

NORTH RIDING – New e-learning model from 2021.

Northriding College, an independent school in the Curro group that accommodates learners from 2 years to Grade 9 (with higher grade phasing in annually), is delighted to announce that they will be adapting their offering to suit the needs of the community even better.

From 2021, the high school will change from the traditional educational offering to a new e-learning model (DigiEd). DigiEd prepares learners for the fourth industrial revolution through a project-based learning programme that emphasises Science, Mathematics, and Technology – all still within the small classroom setup of no more than 25 learners. With the DigiEd approach, learners watch instructional videos rather than read purely from textbooks and receive multimedia-based material. The longer school hours (08:00 – 17:00) and no-homework policy accommodate the schedules of working parents by removing the pressure of managing heavy loads of homework.

This also means that time after school is family time. Learners will each receive a dedicated LIVA desktop PC for work within the classroom as well as a tablet for the purpose of collaborative work done outside on our beautiful campus.

From 2022, the high school learners will have their own unique building; fit with modern, open-plan learning areas. This high school offering is not the only exciting new development at Northriding College. The school now also has state-of-the-art science and computer labs and a robotics lab will be completed at the beginning of 2021.

This will ensure that all learners from Grade 1 onwards are equipped with 21st-century skills that will prepare them for the workplace of the future. Furthermore, isiZulu and Afrikaans will be available as additional language options from 2021.

For the sports enthusiasts, a full-size soccer and athletics field as well as dual-purpose tennis/netball courts, to name but a few, will soon be available. The school is even adding a mountain bike track as part of Curro’s Cycle2Ride initiative.

With dedicated teachers, an enhanced curriculum and the same commitment to quality education, Northriding College continues to provide learners with an inherent dedication to hard work and excellence – proving that they are indeed ahead of the game.
