Honeydew police spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan said on 15 November, members of the police station’s Robbery Reaction Unit visited the suspect’s place of residence after information was provided to them.
The suspect was arrested after he was discovered to be in possession of a stolen white Toyota Fortuner.
“Upon thoroughly searching the entirety of the suspect’s vehicle, tools suspected to be used in car break-ins were discovered and confiscated to be used as evidence,” said Muthan.
The suspect will appear soon in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court.
“We applaud the hard work that our Robbery Reaction Unit and Echo Squads are undertaking to help keep the level of crime down in problem areas. They will be working hard this festive season to ensure that the residents of Honeydew and beyond remain safe by taking as many suspected criminals off the streets as they can.
