Rand Park Primary learner wins R10 000 in radio competition

RANDPARK RIDGE – The prize for general knowledge competition is R10 000 and requires contestants to answer a series of 10 questions in 60 seconds.

Grade 4 learner at Rand Park Primary School Thomas Delport was the first winner of the Wiz Quiz competition on 702. The prize for general knowledge competition is R10 000 and requires contestants to answer a series of 10 questions in 60 seconds.

When asked how the 10-year-old nurtured his winning general knowledge, Thomas explained that his teachers at Rand Park Primary, ‘especially Mrs Vogel and Miss Taylor… and just having a desire to learn more about things I like’, was the combination which served him.

Thomas planned to give 10 per cent to his church, the Barn Christian Fellowship, invest R7 000, and keep R2 000 for himself from his cash prize.

“My mind was racing and I could not believe that this just happened. It feels incredible and unbelievable at the same time,” beamed Thomas on how he felt after he won.

“I had to answer 10 general knowledge questions in 60 seconds and I got all of them correct. The final question was ‘How many collar bones do you have?’ I said two, which was the correct answer!”

Thomas concluded with words of encouragement where he urged his peers to enter competitions like this, “I would just like to say thank you to Bongani and the 702 crew for the opportunity to play the game. I encourage all of you out there to be brave and try new things. You never know what could happen!

If you don’t enter you don’t have a chance to win. So if you are 10 or 11 and 12, enter the Wiz Quiz at 702 to stand a chance to win R10 000 like me. Good luck!”

On his leisure time, you can find Thomas at the lifesaving club, doing mountain biking, road biking or plugged into his PlayStation 4.
