Local resident hosts annual triathlon for cause

FONTAINEBLEAU – Laura Strydom recently hosted a 'triathlon' at Doodle Swim School in Fontainebleau.

The afternoon was held at Doodle Swim School in Fontainebleau in support of Thaba Tshwane Dogs, run by Jane James who is based in Centurion. Attendees at the event were required to bring food, blankets, collars and anything which could be donated to Thaba Tshwane instead of cash.

The first triathlon hosted by Strydom in support of Thaba Tshwane took place three years ago. Since then, Strydom has continued to combine her love for fitness with her urge to give back to a worthy cause.

“My heart is always with the Thaba Tshwane Dogs,” Strydom gushed.

James beamed that she was ‘always excited to get donations’ to help her care for over 500 dogs she has rescued. The main focus of Thaba Tshwane was to sterilise and vaccinate the dogs to reduce the number of dogs in similar situations to the canines she cares for.

The triathlon took place on a Saturday afternoon and included jump fitness on trampolines, a run/walk and a swim at the swim school in Fontainebleau. Strydom is the previous owner of the swim school where she currently teaches an Aqua boot camp class thrice a week.

Strydom encouraged community members to join in on the fitness fun for a cause with the Aquathon in November.
