Blairgowrie cell phone snatcher wanted by police

Spokesperson Constable Takalani Matumba said that the suspect of unknown age is wanted after snatching the cell phone of a Blairgowrie pedestrian.

The Linden police are appealing to the community for information on the whereabouts of a wanted alleged cell phone snatcher.

Spokesperson Constable Takalani Matumba said that the suspect of unknown age is wanted after snatching the cell phone of a Blairgowrie pedestrian. “During the late afternoon of 7 October, the complainant was walking with her two children on Geneva Road in Blairgowrie. One child was in her arm, and the other was walking beside her.

“She was also on her cell phone engaged in a video call with her husband.”

A male suspect snuck up on her from behind and grabbed her cell phone before escaping into a white vehicle and fled the scene.

“The community is advised not to confront the suspect, as he may be armed and dangerous. Rather contact the Linden police on 011 888 9211 or the investigating officer on 071 345 8457.

“The community is also advised to not carry their valuables in open display. Having your valuables visible as a pedestrian or on display in your car will only attract an opportunistic criminal. Please report crimes when they happen.”
