One dead following a serious crash on N1 North

WELTEVREDEN PARK – One of the injured patients was treated with advanced life support interventions before he was treated to the nearest hospital for further care.


ER24 paramedics, along with other services, responded to a multiple collision on the N1 north-bound between 14th Avenue and Beyers Naudé in Weltevreden Park.

According to a statement by ER24, paramedics arrived on the scene at 12.15pm on 16 October and found that at least five light motor vehicles had collided. One vehicle was found in a ditch on the side of the road while several others were found across the highway.

It has been confirmed that a woman has been killed and two people have been injured. “On closer inspection, medics found the body of a woman lying on the road a few metres away from her vehicle. Assessments showed that the woman had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life. Nothing more could be done and she was declared dead,” said ER24 in a statement.

Two other patients were tended to at the scene. A man was found with several injuries and in a critical condition while another woman had sustained moderate injuries. “The two patients were treated for their injuries and the critically injured man was treated with advanced life support interventions before they were transported to nearby hospitals for further care,” concluded ER24.

Relevant authorities were on the scene.
