Covid-19: 123 more deaths bring national death rate to 18 151

There are currently 51 365 active cases of Covid-19 in South Africa, with Gauteng contributing 19 822 cases.

The cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in South Africa has reached 696 414 with 1 877 new cases identified since the last report. Of the total positive cases, Gauteng makes up 32.1 percent, KwaZulu Natal 17.3 percent, Western Cape 16.3 percent and Eastern Cape 13.1 percent.

A total of 4 458 745 tests have been conducted to date, with 24 793 new tests done since the last report. Of these, 57 percent were conducted in private facilities, while 43 percent were conducted through public facilities. South Africa’s recovery rate still stands at 90 percent with a total of 626 898 recoveries.

Sadly though, 123 more people have lost their lives, bringing the total number of deaths to 18 151.
